“Itadakimasu” is one of the customs that strongly reflects Japanese food culture. Put your hands together before the meal and say, ‘itadakimasu’. It is a custom of expressing thanks and gratitude. There are three main objects of gratitude. The first is thanks for the foodstuff. Foodstaff are part of every non-us life. Next is thanks to those who were involved in the meal. The food comes from the people who grow, transport, cook and service the ingredients. The finally is gratitude and thanks to nature and God. We can grow food only because of the natural environment.
